Mac Hutton

Mac was baptized on Father's Day 1979 at the Ontario Church of Christ. He married Christine in July 1993. Mac and Christine have five children, all of whom are married, and eight grandchildren. Their daughter, Lindsay, her husband and baby daughter also attend Upland. Mac served two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Most of his work experience has been in construction. Currently, Mac is the Operations Manager for Southern Lighting and Graphics in Rancho Cucamonga. Mac has served as a song leader for many years at Upland. He loves children and has taught children's Bible classes for approximately 9 years. He has also taught several adult Bible studies. Mac makes an effort to greet as many members and visitors as possible at each service. He and Christine regularly visit the seniors at the various nursing homes, as well as our shut-ins. Mac has also officiated at a funeral and had the honor of performing a marriage ceremony. Mac became an elder in 2008. As part of his duties as an elder, he is responsible for Buildings, Grounds, and Maintenance. Mac also oversees the worship service and insures that men are scheduled to serve in the various worship duties.

Tom Laing

Tom Laing was baptized in April 1978, while attending the South Whittier church of Christ. Tom was raised in the city of Long Beach and married Janice Proffitt in 1979. They raised two children who are also members of the Upland congregation. Tom and his family previously worshiped at the South Whittier and La Habra congregations before moving to Rancho Cucamonga in 1989 and placing membership at Upland. During Tom's thirty- three years of service in the church he has taught bible classes to young teens, assisted in facilitating youth activities, taught adult classes in parenting and marriage, and has been the primary coordinator of Upland congregation's fellowships for all members. Tom  is retired and besides his servant work with the congregation, he conducts bible studies with a local assisted living facility, volunteers with our community food program, serves on the board for an organization that provides advocate and support services for victims of crime, enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and family, attending sporting events, golf, and traveling. Tom welcomes the opportunity to offer encouragement through prayer and personal assistance and as well sharing the gospel.

Jack White went to Southwestern Christian College [SWCC] and graduated with an AA degree in 1969. While at SWCC Jack White was elected Most Ambition, Secretary of Tau Phi Kappa Ministerial Fraternity, Treasurer of Sophomore Club, member of Mission Study Group, and President of Drama Club. In May 1971 Jack White graduated from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Bible. Jack White continued his education and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, and a Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California. At SWCC Brother White met his future bride, Ruby Eloise Glover, and both were elected by the student body as Mr. and Miss Southwestern Christian College. Dr. Jack L. White married Ruby Eloise Glover of Williston, South Carolina in July of 1971. Jack and Ruby have two children both of whom are faithful members of the church: Corolar (daughter), Jack II (son); and two Grandchildren: Alexis and Jack III. Brother White was baptized in Port Arthur, Texas by Brother Cook in 1957. He has preached, taught bible classes, conducted workshops, and lectured at churches in Arizona, California, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas. He has preached in Los Angeles at the Avalon Church of Christ for about 5 years and at the Normandie Church of Christ for about 2 years. While at Avalon, Brother White became very active in the community and sensitive to community needs. It was during his tenure at Avalon that he received local recognition that included being honored as Outstanding Young Man in America for exceptional community service by the United States Jaycees, Outstanding Young Man in LA by Mayor Tom Bradley, and Outstanding Young Man in LA County by Supervisor Kenneth Hahn. Brother Jack White has served as Elder at the Vinton Avenue Church of Christ in Pomona, California for about 10 years and is currently serving as Elder at the Upland Church of Christ since June 2008.
